PKP Cargo has submitted a restructuring plan
PKP Cargo has submitted a formal restructuring plan to the court, aimed at restoring profitability and improving financial liquidity. The company aims to return to profitability as early as 2026, with full stabilization expected by the end of 2031.

Financial renewal and operational changes
The plan includes a series of corrective actions designed to ensure the company's ability to meet its obligations on an ongoing basis and create a solid foundation for future investments. Key elements include debt renegotiation, cost reductions, revenue growth, and improved cash flow. The company also intends to better utilize its resources and improve operational efficiency.

New development strategy – no more coal, time for intermodal
As part of its restructuring, PKP Cargo plans to gradually phase out coal transport, with its share of revenues expected to fall to 2031% by 13. Instead, the company intends to focus on intermodal and specialized transport, which offers higher margins and is less susceptible to economic fluctuations.

Optimization of costs and organizational structure
By the end of 2026, the company plans to implement a profound internal transformation, from changes to its organizational structure, through streamlining operational processes, to modifying asset management. These actions are expected to result in, among other things, reducing the share of employee costs from 45% to approximately 31% of the company's total costs.

Creditors received arrangement proposals
At the same time, PKP Cargo presented its creditors with arrangement proposals, dividing them into nine groups – this will enable a flexible approach to various types of liabilities. The total value of liabilities covered by the arrangement as of the end of May 2025 was PLN 2,94 billion.

A chance for support from PKP
The plan also includes information about possible financial support from the main shareholder – PKP is considering granting a loan of up to PLN 500 million. However, these funds will be used solely for current operations and will not be used to repay creditors.

Management Board: We are facing a long-term process of change
PKP Cargo CEO Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail emphasizes that the company's situation requires a comprehensive approach: "It's not just a matter of repaying debts, but a complete overhaul of the company's operations. The key will be consistent implementation of optimization measures."
